Hey there! I'm an experienced Web Developer and Instructor, specializing in Front-End languages/frameworks such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, jQuery, and Bootstrap.
I am a graduate from SUNY Polytechnic Institute. There I majored in Computer Science with a minor in Sociology. I often hear how those two disciplines are very different from each other, but my experience shows how someone can apply software solutions towards social problems.
For example, I was employed through the State of New York as the Programming Mentor for a robotics team based out of the Midtown Utica Community Center. As the team's mentor, I provided a safe space for at-risk refugee youth to get excited about topics related to robotics and web development.
The result of this program was that multiple students went on to graduate high school and get accepted to local universities with advanced certificates due to their hard work at the program. This not only gives these students a future, but ensures that they can use the skills they learned to move themselves, their families, and their communities out of systemic poverty.
I approach my experience as the owner of a web design company called Una Web Solutions with the same passion. By working directly with nonprofits and predominantly immigrant-owned small businesses, I provide my web development experience to their needs.
I view my guidance as a Hand Up, not a Hand-out. With my tutoring, you'll be able to learn the web development skills you need to build a better future for yourself. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a lesson, please feel free to contact me!
