I’ve been teaching biology for more than a decade. As a Yale undergraduate, I developed and taught 20 short courses for a high school outreach program. At Cornell, I received top reviews for my work TAing general biology, evolutionary biology, ichthyology, paleontology, and more. I also helped develop an online course with 30,000 students, and am now teaching anatomy & physiology in the Connecticut State College and University system.
I have experience mentoring individual students, running seminars and lab sessions, giving lectures, and creating online courses. I’ve also written educational materials used in high school, Ivy League, and community college settings. These include plenty of biology tests, so I’m very familiar with their content! Whatever type of student I’m working with, I strive to contextualize what they’re learning within the broader picture of biology. I believe that true understanding is more useful than pure memorization—and that it creates more confident, competent and motivated learners. I look forward to meeting new students, and to sharing my enthusiasm for the natural world!
