I graduated magna cum laude with a Master of Science degree in biology and a Master of Education degree. I have been fortunate to teach a wide variety of subjects at many different grade levels for 28 years before retiring. I am thankful to be able to continue to use my academic training and classroom teaching experience to tutor students in many subjects both in person and online. It is truly a fulfilling experience to see my students become more capable and confident at skills that were once difficult for them. I was also honored to be a Top 10% Wyzant Tutor for 2019 and 2020.

My goal in working with my students is to make concepts understandable using different methods that are suited to each person's learning style. I also want to get to know my students as individuals, and learn about their interests and talents.

I have five years of experience teaching 7th grade math, and one year of experience teaching prealgebra. I have also worked with students during the school day and after school doing math, science, and reading STAAR interventions.

In addition to having an undergraduate and graduate degree in biology, I taught general biology classes and an ecology class as an interim instructor at Stephen F. Austin State University. While working in different public schools, I taught integrated science courses which covered physical science, chemistry, biology, and earth science concepts at the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade levels.

I am certified to teach all subjects in grades 1-8, as well as high school biology. I also have taught 7th grade Texas History for one year and 6th grade world geography for one year. I currently have the pleasure of tutoring math, reading, pre algebra, algebra and science to students ranging from 3rd grade to adult. In addition, I have assisted undergraduate and graduate students at the university level with proofreading and writing.

I hope to work with you soon and see you become more confident and successful in your studies!
