I am a retired middle school English teacher of 25 years. I have taught and tutored English, Reading, Writing, ESL, Math and Social Studies. As an ELA teacher, I was rated Proficient by the New York State Education Department. I am also an expert in literary analysis, as well as essay writing and editing. I will help you or your child get on track and earn great scores using proven methods.

While teaching English on the Middle School level for over 25 years, I have prepared hundreds of students for their state ELA exams. My latest class did so well that I was rated Effective by the NY State Education Department. I have also tutored middle school and high school students in Math for several years. Personally, I have achieved a nearly perfect score overall (294) on the L.A.S.T. teacher exam, and scored perfect essay scores (300) on each of the two NY State teacher exams. I am well versed in both the NY State Regents English and Math exams and can definitely help students to improve their scores in both of these exams.

Great tutor experience

I couldn't be more pleased with having Marc tutor my daughter in Algebra 2/trigonometry. When Marc began tutoring my daughter in Oct. 2014, she had a 72 average in class and was struggling to complete assignments. I was becoming increasingly concerned, so I reached out to Marc and he started hour long lessons twice a week. Since then, I am happy to report my daughter's average has gone up to a 93 in a few short months and her confidence is through the roof. Marc is a retired teacher and I can tell he takes his time to plan out his sessions; he is thorough, patient and dedicated and I wouldn't hesitate recommending him to others as he has proven to be an invaluable resource in my daughters education.

Our son just had his first writing lesson with Marc and it went very well. They began by reviewing a draft essay our son had been working on with a previous tutor, and Marc provided constructive feedback for improvement. Marc also insightfully observed a literary analysis perspective that my son had not considered previously, which we thought was very helpful. Marc then suggested additional resources and a learning path that may help our son further develop his writing skills. Marc is also well versed in the NYS ELA Regents content and format which we plan to leverage as the framework for future lessons. We are looking forward to future lessons with Marc.

Marc helped my rising 7th grader with a writing assignment. I liked how he spent time discussing and preparing an outline before writing the final assignment. Excellent Middle School ELA Tutor

Marc has been working with our middle school son on ELA. He is using the book "Models for Writers" and is focussing on close reading, vocabulary, and writing. We've been very happy with his sessions. Currently, our son's public school is completely online with limited class time because of COVID, so it's been especially helpful for him to get one-on-one attention.
