I have teacher certificates in Washington, West Virginia, and Illinois as well as pending certification in Kentucky. I have taught both traditional classes (ranging in size from 10 to 100) as well as private studio teaching, one-on-one tutoring and private tutoring in the language lab for ESL students.) I was voted "Teacher of the Year" at Mill Creek elementary (WV) in 1998. This should adequately speak to my qualifications.
As for areas of expertise, my academic training is both broad and deep including a wide diversity of subjects in the Humanities. This would include Philosophy and Theology, Classics, Music, Language Arts and Literature, Drama, and History. (The class which I have most enjoyed teaching was a course entitled "Western Civilization in the Arts" in a private college. It integrated all of the above subjects into a year long course and showed the relationships between all of them and their impact on the development of civilization from ancient Egypt to the present.)

Teaching style is dictated by the learning styles of the student. I will vary techniques and approaches to meet those needs. (For example, when assisting my 12 year old son with his math, I don't just see to it that he gets the right answer, I make sure he understands the process of how to get the right answer. I take him step by step through the process questioning him each step of the way to be sure he understands what he has just learned.) Furthermore, I want students to be able to integrat
