Hi all, my name is Christian. I am a seasoned aerospace engineer and a current theoretical computer scientist in training. I have a Bachelor's in Aerospace Engineering, a Master's in Computer Science, and am currently working on a PhD in theoretical computer science at one of the best computer science departments world wide. With my education, I have designed algorithms for robots at NASA JPL, built machine learning models, designed and implemented algorithms for classified aerospace projects, constructed artificial intelligence algorithms that run on supercomputers, architected software to simulate earthquakes with high accuracy, produced research that will (hopefully) soon be published in high impact journals, and more. All the education and experiences have only made me love math and computing more than ever and motivated me to share this knowledge with others.

I have tutored for numerous years and am currently paid to help teach classes at the university level. I take a tailored approach to the interests and needs of the tutee and keep an open mind to help each individual in their learning journey as best as possible. I have extensive experience in both the theoretical and applied uses much of my knowledge, so I can help bridge the "How will this be useful?" gap with any students that face it to help enforce the value of what is being learned as well.

I may have a few degrees from a top university and some real world experience, but I am a really easy going guy who just has fun with math, engineering, and computing. Feel free to reach out if you think my background could help you learn what you need to achieve your goals!

C++

I built computational science simulations for years in my undergrad using C++ and spent time at NASA JPL building computer vision algorithms for autonomous drones. Then I spent 3.5 years working at a big defense contractor writing C++ algorithms to perform: distributed machine learning, missile algorithm development, simulation development, distributed optimization. I spent my masters writing distributed computational geometry software in C++. In my PhD I am continuing in some distributed computational geometry software development in C++ with an application to earthquake modeling on large clusters and supercomputers. I have more experience but fundamentally I use C++ for many things and have been using it for almost 10 years.
Computer Science,

Computer Science

I have a masters in Computer Science, particularly with my thesis being in theoretical computer science and my coursework being in a mix of high performance computing, artificial intelligence, theory, and scientific computing. I am currently working on a PhD in theoretical computer science. I have used concepts from computer science for years in industry and have only developed a stronger background in these topics since being in grad school.
MATLAB,

MATLAB

Since my undergrad in aerospace engineering, I have been using Matlab. In fact, I have been using Matlab now for more than 10 years! I used Matlab a lot throughout my undergrad, my time in industry, and even so far in graduate school. I have made typical scripts and Matlab libraries in pure Matlab, while also building wrappers to external C++ libraries so I could use them in Matlab. I have a lot of experience with this language and can help people who need help with it.

Calculus,

Calculus

I have been using calculus for more than a decade, starting in high school then through a top tier aerospace engineering program, then while working on secret defense projects for a few years, and then for the last few years as I've been training to be a Theoretical Computer Scientist. Calculus has always been an area I am very strong in and have lots of intuition for, so I understand it well.

Discrete Math,

Discrete Math

Discrete math is a common tool used within my toolkit as a theoretical computer scientist in training. I have used discrete math for years in both industry and in my time as a graduate student. As a current PhD student in theoretical computer science, discrete math is used heavily in my research and any classes that I take, so I have quite a bit of experience.

Probability,

Probability

I have been using probability for years. I have used it extensively the last couple years in my study of randomized algorithms and complexity theory as a Theoretical Computer Scientist in training. I also used probability often for use in machine learning and estimation theory when I worked on secret defense projects prior to grad school. Probability is a subject I really enjoy and have quite a bit of experience in.

Knowledgeable and able to work through puzzles

Went over some universal computing circuits and was able to work through problems pretty successfully. Would recommend Christian for other students! It was helpful he had background in other areas that were tangential to the topic

Great tutor!

I’ve met with Christian 2 times, and each time I was not disappointed! He was able to answer my questions and cater to my learning style as a visual learner. If your thinking about having Christian as your tutor, I recommend you give into those thought!

A LIFE SAVER

No words can describe how grateful I was to find a tutor that could help me with my Machine Learning in Matlab! I will recommend him for anyone looking for a tutor!

One of the best tutors ever!

I was struggling with my Orbital Mechanics problem, but Mr. Christian helped me a lot and was very patient with teaching me the concepts of the problem and how to go through it. I have never dealt with a great tutor like him. He gave me his full attention and tried his best to make sure I understand the material very well.

Great Tutor, Very Knowledgeable

Christian helped me with an assignment for my fundamentals of algorithms course. He went through each problem helping me understand how to solve it and the concepts it involved. He’s a great tutor, and I’ll definitely be scheduling with him again in the future.

Super helpful and knowledgable

Christian went over a linear algebra problem with me. He specifically walked me through the steps to solve for a given inequality for my electrical engineering course. He's super knowledge of more theoretical electrical engineering topics and I highly recommend him!

A great tutor!

Christian was great for implementing handwritten work into Matlab. I am a slow learner and he was very patient with me. He walked me through each step and took his time. Highly suggest and I will be tutoring with him agai.
