Hello! It's nice to meet you. My name is Cheyenne and I am a current middle school English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher in the highly nationally ranked Massachusetts public school system. Prior to that, I taught the same two subjects in a special education collaborative for grades 5-12. I have experience teaching and tutoring writing, grammar, reading comprehension, summer reading, history, social studies, ESL, and more from the elementary to the college and adult age range and hold teaching licenses for grades 5-12 in English, History, and ESL. I hold an up-to-date and clear CORI background check and have been fingerprinted in the state of Massachusetts.
Prior to becoming a teacher, I hosted a weekly cooking class and craft group with children ages 3+ in my community. I come from a big family and babysitting as well as working with children of all ages has always been a joy and strength of mine. After I graduated high school, I studied at Lesley University and received my Bachelor of the Arts in Secondary Education and English Literature where I was in three honor societies, one of which was for English Literature students. Here, I tutored fellow students in writing papers, studying for exams, reading comprehension, note-taking, organization, and more. Next, I studied Applied Linguistics with a focus on English as a Second Language and earned my Master of Arts degree.
I believe in a positive and collaborative approach and will work with the most motivated to the most reluctant of learners to make learning fun, engaging, and meaningful. I whole-heartedly love going to work each day to see my students learn and grow as both students and human beings, whether it be in the classroom, in our student leader group, D&D club, on the field, on the stage, or anywhere else they may be. Since I work school hours during the year myself, I would be happy to share my afternoons, weekends, and summers continuing to do what I love. I hope to meet with you or your student soon!
