About Arnold

Bio

Hello, I’m Dr. Arnold. I retired recently as a professor of biophysics after 18 years of working for UTMB, Auburn University, and University of Houston. I taught or tutored Classical Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Thermodynamics, Quantum Mechanics, Optical Physics and advanced topics in Solid-State Physics and Biological Physics.

Hello, I’m Dr. Arnold. I retired recently as a professor of biophysics after 18 years of working for UTMB, Auburn University, and University of Houston. I taught or tutored Classical Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Thermodynamics, Quantum Mechanics, Optical Physics and advanced topics in Solid-State Physics and Biological Physics.

I work with students of all levels of physics and math understanding. Importantly, all my students believe that they can get better at math and physics. To grow their self-confidence, we start with tasks appropriate to their current level and progress step-by-step toward school assignments and standardized tests.

I love one-on-one tutoring because it allows individual adjustment to the type of thinking and learning abilities of each person. At the first introductory meeting we chat about the student’s goals and expectations, as well as his or her hobbies and interests. Knowing what drives the student helps me to design interesting lessons: I remember how a tennis player was indifferent to the motion of a stone, but excited by a similar calculation for a tennis ball.

To be effective, a tutor must know the content and requirements of high school and college courses. I accomplished this by passing the Texas teachers’ certification exam in Physics/Math for 7-12 grades with a score of 283 out of 300. I also passed the math portion of SAT practice tests with 800 score.

My son is getting sessions on AP Physics 1&2 from Dr Arnold. He is very knowledgeable and thorough. Explains the concepts and then work on the problems related to those topics in detail. Provides special tips on how to use formulas based on the problem statement and situation. Working on the AP exam pattern and speed up the work with my son. Comes well prepared and plans ahead of the session. Proactively provides feedback and suggestions. This helps a lot to my son to complete his worksheets and lab work. He can take the chapter tests, quizzes and lab tests comfortably and with more confidence. Dr Arnold is very flexible and makes him available with a very short notice and stretches the session, if needed. He respects the student and keeps a lot of patience. Outstanding tutor for differential equations and engineering

Arnold is very patient and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to advanced math and advanced engineering. Arnold helped me pass a graduate level heat transfer and diffusion process class. his ability to use differential equations and apply them to engineering applications was outstanding. EXCELLENT

Arnold is an amazingly efficient tutor. I had a problem to understand Griffiths book “Introduction to Quantum Mechanics” and some other textbooks. With Arnold we work out a paragraph after a paragraph and I learn how to solve the problems. Arnold explains concisely the physical concepts and reminds the linear algebra and differential equations as needed.
