I am knowledgeable, patient and empathetic. I have the ability to develop excellent communication skills while teaching and explaining complex material. I am a master at working tactfully with sometimes frustrated students from various sociocultural backgrounds.

I am a Certified Master Level Tutor by the College Reading and Learning Association. I worked as a tutor at the University Tutorial Center, California State University, Los Angeles for over a year and half. In addition, I was a Teaching Assistant-TA teaching Economics at my undergraduate university.

My responsibilities included providing individual and small group tutoring to university students. Some of the subjects I tutored at the tutorial center are:

Also, I presented study skills and college success series workshops.

To share a bit about myself with you, I have a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. I have a BA in Economics with a minor in Business Administration. Helping others achieve their goals is my passion. I received the university Outstanding Graduate Student Award in 2008.

I understand that Arabic is difficult to learn for an English speaker, as it originates from a very different language group than English, but I have been quite successful in teaching Arabic to both English and Spanish speakers over the years. My wife, a native speaker of English, is my newest experiment.

Great teacher!!

John was very patient with me and was able to explain to me concepts in economics that were not clear to me before. He was very nice to make sure I was secure with calculations and concepts before we went on. I learn with association with ideas and that is exactly what he did, and he used relatable examples which helped a lot. I would definitely recommend John!

I had 9 tutoring sessions with John for my Financial Management class. He was very thorough and made sure I could understand the concepts which could be challenging at times. However, John is extremely patient and answers all my questions and provides illustrations that could help me grasp the concepts. He also gave me ideas that were very useful for a final paper that I had to write. I received an A for the paper and am now doing extremely well in the class (A+).
