Are you looking to help your child improve his/her grades, study skills, and organization? I am a parent and certified teacher with 30 years of experience and have been privately tutoring for the past 20 years.

I am versed in all elementary and middle school subject areas, especially math. I also tutor students in pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and high school level reading and writing. I am available evenings and weekends in either a set or flexible schedule. In addition, I have extensive experience helping students prepare for high school and middle school entrance exams along with the MCAS, SAT and ACT.

I hold dual certification in Elementary 1-6 and Middle School Mathematics/Science grades 5-8.

I have been working with students to prepare for the HSPT for over 17 years. I begin with a general review of the test as a whole, then target specific sections and types of questions (i.e. the four types of questions found in the verbal section). The math portion of the exam is often the most daunting, so I review targeted topics (i.e. fractions, decimals, percent), then show students how those topics are presented on the test. For many of my students, this is their first experience taking a timed exam of this length. As a result, I place a strong emphasis on timing and have students complete short sets of questions within a certain time frame. This allows my students to gauge their own pace and know when to skip a particular question.
