Since 2016, I have been educating and consulting people on managing capital and cash flow through investment finance, corporate finance, accounting, statistics, and general business techniques, both quantitative and qualitative.

Our finance tutoring and consulting system has been the result of hundreds of hours of research and implementation work with entrepreneurs, startups, private and public companies, attorneys, private bankers, investment managers, executives, and family offices.

My team and I at Moderation Investments have also researched and applied our work with graduate and undergraduate level students in business or business-related fields in universities, such as Stanford, Wharton, Columbia, Cornell, USC, UCLA, Pepperdine, Georgetown, and many others in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

I approach tutoring and consulting on a case-by-case basis. Every student client comes with different needs and expectations. Therefore, I select people that I believe I can help and using our adaptive system, and we target excellent results.

Personal background: a master's degree (MBA) from Duke University, a Bachelor's degree in Finance Honors and Marketing (double-major) from Texas Christian University, and I also completed the Chartered Financial Analyst and earned the CFA designation. Additionally, I passed FINRA exams: SIE, 7, 63, 86, and 87.

My finance experience, prior to helping the foundation of our firm, includes high profile money management at investment firms (hedge funds) and equity research in investment banking for over ten (10) years.

Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men. - Proverb

I worked as an equity research analyst covering under-followed small-capitalization companies misunderstood by Wall Street with unbiased and often contrarian recommendations at a Los Angeles-headquartered investment bank. Prior to the bank, I executed independent contractor projects by researching the competitive landscape for distinct industries and defining new venture opportunities. Additionally, I secured funding for a startup in the food services industry through two small business incubators, and I compiled and presented business plans and financial projections for a technology startup. My professional career began in 2000 working for three Texas-based hedge fund investment firms as an equity research analyst, trader, and assistant to the Chief Investment Officers at two of the firms.

Kind, patient, helpful!

Juan is one of the BEST tutors on Wyzant that I have worked with. He goes through each step with you, keeps you engaged, and makes sure you are comprehending the material at hand. He also will make sure that you have all materials to succeed while walking you through every step of how to solve the problem. Highly recommended. If I could give a 100/10, I absolutely would!

His efficiency in simplifying difficult topics makes the learning process enjoyable and productive. I am grateful for the positive impact Juan has had on my understanding of complex material.

I had the pleasure of working with Juan as my tutor, and I am extremely satisfied with the support and guidance he provided. I am a first-year MBA student and had difficulty with my core Finance and Accounting subjects. His efficiency in simplifying difficult topics makes the learning process enjoyable and productive. I worked with him throughout my semester and cleared my exams with flying colors. This would not have been possible without his support.

Patient and very knowledgeable.

Juan helped me with my MBA Investments class. He was very thorough and clear in the way he explained things. I was very lost and failing my class before looking for a tutor and he's helped save my grade. I booked several sessions with him because he is very helpful. Thank you!

Excellent

Juan is an excellent teacher - he breaks down problems to their most basic structure and explains the “why” not just the “how”. Learned incredibly fast and thankful for his patience.

Knowledgable and patient tutor!

Juan is absolutely amazing! I was studying for the SIE for 2 months and some concepts weren't sticking, economics and options to name a few. He was patient with me and walked me through his step-by-step reviews until I was comfortable with moving on, even with all my questions. 100% would recommend.
