Hello! My name is John, and I have been a high school English teacher for over 20 years. I have won the Teacher of the Year award at my school and was a semi-finalist for the WSFCS District-Wide Teacher of the Year. My Bachelors Degree is in English, and my Masters Degrees are in English Education and Library Science. Over the course of my teaching career, I have enjoyed teaching students from 9th grade English Prep to AP Language and Composition. I also have four children of my own and am comfortable working with students ranging anywhere from middle school through high school.

I enjoy teaching English because I like to see students gain an understanding of material that they never thought they could enjoy. I have been told countless times by students and parents that they enjoyed English for the first time after taking my class. Most students tell me that I teach with a great amount of passion. This is true because I truly love the subject material. Not only are my students learning, but I am learning new things every day.

Through over 20 years as a teacher in the Winston-Salem school district, I have become very proficient at teaching and tutoring all levels of English. I can help with grammar, writing, and reading comprehension. I am also very excited to tutor students for the English sections of the SAT and ACT tests.
