I am going into my second year as a K-12 Elementary Music Teacher and Assistant Band Director. However, I have many years of experience working with all age groups! I regularly work high school band camps, teach lessons on an individual basis, and direct clarinet sectionals for junior high and high school students, in addition to my daily teacher duties.

I have two bachelor's degrees from Auburn University in Clarinet Performance and Music Education. I have given one-on-one private clarinet lessons since I was in high school (8+ years), and I am now a full-time certified music teacher for grades K-12. For my Clarinet Performance degree, I studied very difficult clarinet literature and performed two solo recitals. One recital was 30 minutes, and the other was 1 hour.
Ear Training,

Ear Training

In my coursework at Auburn University, I was required to take a class that taught us ear training. I learned how to sing intervals and progressions in all keys, I learned tricks for recognizing each interval, and I learned how to listen to ensemble recordings and identify what was incorrect about the recording. I regularly tutored my peers to improve their ear training skills.
General Music,

General Music

I am a certified, full-time K-12 Elementary Music Teacher and Band Director, meaning that I teach general music every single day. I teach every aspect of music, including, but not limited to: tempo, rhythm, dynamics, time signature, keeping a steady beat, reading music, note naming and singing. I also teach beginner band, which largely focuses on teaching my students the basics of holding, putting together and playing their instruments, how to breathe properly, first notes, articulation and more.
Sight Singing

Sight Singing

In my coursework at Auburn University, I was required to take a class that taught us sight singing. I was given a limited amount of time each week to learn numerous excerpts, and then I performed them using solfege syllables for my professor. I learned how to use solfege syllables to look at a brand new piece of music and sing it immediately after looking at it. I took numerous sight singing exams, and was successful on each one. I regularly tutored my peers to improve their sight singing skills.
