I have more than a decade of tutoring experience. I've tutored in all environments, from one-on-one to small groups to an entire classroom at a tutoring center. I have more than a decade of tutoring experience. I've tutored in all environments, from one-on-one to small groups to an entire classroom at a tutoring center. I've taught all ages, from kindergarten to college. Most of my experience is with middle school and up. My main teaching focus is STEM: all math and science through undergraduate engineering. This includes all undergraduate mechanical and electrical engineering (what I studied in college), as well lower-division general courses: math through ordinary differential equations, intro statistics, intro computer science, physics through intro modern physics, general chemistry. As for ages high school and below, I tutor all core subjects: math, science, English, history. In addition, I also teach French and Spanish pronunciation.

Regarding my teaching style, I like to focus on your critical path items: to improve your grades, prepare for your tests, etc. During sessions, I like to dive right in -- to work on assignments due immediately, and fill core gaps in understanding as we encounter them. I use lots of visuals and simulations to convey important ideas; to give a different look at a concept your teacher/professor didn't explain clearly. I may provide homework, but only when you aren't already swamped with work. I make homework challenging, but short.

I have a background in mechanical and electrical engineering. I have a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Davis (GPA 3.64, graduated with honors), where I focused on control theory. I also have a M.S. in mechanical and electrical engineering from the University of Michigan (GPA 3.81), where I focused on machine learning and signal processing. I currently work as a research engineer for remote sensing systems; I write algorithms for satellites. I develop defenses to adversarial attacks on neural networks.

MATLAB,

MATLAB

My focus is practical scripting for engineering applications. I used MATLAB throughout my undergraduate and graduate engineering degrees, as well at current job. I've worked on projects across multiple fields, including PID controllers for motors, multi-image fusion for military target detection, cloud suppression for airborne target tracking, and an audio sampler.

Electrical Engineering,

Electrical Engineering

I studied signal processing and control theory during my undergraduate at UC Davis. I'm comfortable with analog circuits, Fourier/Laplace/z-transforms, block and signal flow diagrams, and putting it all together for real-world filter and controller design. I studied machine learning for my master's at U of M. I currently research neural network defenses to common adversarial attacks. Other projects I've worked on include Bayesian optimization to recognize XRD patterns in a materials science lab, and supervised classifiers to detect stationary military ground targets.

Mechanical Engineering,

Mechanical Engineering

I have a B.S. and M.S. in MechE. My main focus is classical control theory: Laplace domain, transfer functions, block and signal flow diagrams, and practical control design. I'm also comfortable with dynamic systems, and modelling energy flows through them using Bond graphs. In other MechE fields, I can teach classical and statistical thermodynamics: everything through work and refrigeration cycles, as well creating phase diagrams (for mechanics of materials).
