I am passionate about teaching and taught for 13 years with a certification in grades K-6. My belief is that every child that walks into my classroom can learn, and proof of that is helping students excel despite their academic challenges. I have been evaluated as a Highly Effective teacher for several years. Also, I have experience in successfully working with At Risk, SLD, and ESOL students, which resulted in student gains on State Assessments.

I was recognized in an article in Eschool News as a Recipient of the Race to the Top Merit pay in 2011. Ranking among the top ten reading and math teachers in six regions who showed the highest, consistent student gains over a three-year period.

Currently, I am the Founder and Reading Interventionist at Next Level Reading Center. My goal is to help students bridge gaps in reading using a customized reading plan, systematic instruction in reading, growth mindset strategies, and multisensory strategies.

I identify the needs of my students by creating a customized lesson plan based on their needs. My reading instruction is based on the science of reading and researched based strategies from years of experience teaching in the classroom and tutoring.

I use a systematic approach in Phonics, using low complexity concepts to high complexities to make sure my students grasp concepts in phonics that are needed for a strong foundation in reading. I have used my phonics strategies to teach beginning and struggling readers and have seen students excel.
