Last year, I was honored with a ranking in the top 250 of more than 72,000 WyzAnt tutors nationwide.
I have been tutoring and teaching Spanish in the Washington area 15+ years and worked at the United Nations (UNHCR) for six years, as translator, interpreter and teacher. As a teacher, I also participated for 4 years at FLES (Foreign Language in Elementary Schools) at Montgomery County Public Schools. I have mentored high school students AP/SAT and IB, as well as diplomats, development...

I have been tutoring and teaching Spanish in the Washington area 15+ years and worked at the United Nations (UNHCR) for six years, as translator, interpreter and teacher. As a teacher, I also participated for 4 years at FLES (Foreign Language in Elementary Schools) at Montgomery County Public Schools. I have mentored high school students AP/SAT and IB, as well as diplomats, development specialists in one-on-one training. Many of my former students are now successful professionals in Latin American countries, working with local counterparts. A large portion of my students have been highly rated in their Spanish language tests (U.S. government), required to pass and secure related jobs here with the State Department or overseas in Spanish speaking countries. Spanish lessons from my home via Skype is another possibility in case you are interested.

Teaching Spanish in other countries has been also part of my assets, because as a native Spanish speaker, I acknowledge the challenges of learning a foreign language. since I am also fluent in English, German and Italian. I volunteer as an interpreter for the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

*I also like to meet at the Davis or Bethesda Public Library: Friday afternoons and Saturdays. Please contact me for specific times and information (60 minutes per session minimum).

*Open to other location suggestions, or I could go to your office during lunch time.

Great tutor

Claudia has been a godsend. My son was struggling with Spanish and after a few sessions with Claudia he has gained confidence and is now doing well and no longer dreading Spanish. She is reliable, patient, kind and was able to explain the concepts he was struggling with. He is now able to stay ahead instead of playing catch-up. I wholeheartedly recommend her!

Excellent tutor to my high school senior

My son was becoming discouraged with Spanish when he reached the AP level. He didn't feel comfortable with all of the oral participation required at that level. Claudia helped him turn things around. She quickly established a good rapport with him, and both his speaking and writing skills improved quickly. I was impressed that she conducted the sessions entirely in Spanish and got him to speak only in Spanish during their sessions. As a result, his grade drastically improved -- now a solid A. We were very lucky to find Claudia. I highly recommend her.
