Bio

I am a New York State Certified Grades 7-12 English Language Arts Teacher. I hold a Professional License. I am available for SAT Reading and Writing, ACT English and Reading, and for Chess tutoring. I taught from 1994-2010 at the Suffolk Learning Center in Bay Shore, New York, an alternative high school for at-risk students. I am a New York State Certified Grades 7-12 English Language Arts Teacher. I hold a Professional License. I am available for SAT Reading and Writing, ACT English and Reading, and for Chess tutoring. I taught from 1994-2010 at the Suffolk Learning Center in Bay Shore, New York, an alternative high school for at-risk students. I provided one-on - one tutoring to ELA students in grades 7-12 including state examination preparation. Since October of 2011 I have worked as an SAT Reading/Writing tutor and as an ACT English/Reading tutor at the Huntington Learning Center in Bay Shore, New York. I am also currently a substitute teacher for the Brentwood Union Free School District in Brentwood, New York.

In the summer months, I work as a chess teacher for a Texas-based company chess education company. I have been employed by this company since 2008 during which time I have taught at 49 chess camps in different states across the country. I am ranked as a Chess Expert by the United States Chess Federation, a title earned by competing in sanctioned chess tournaments. I have also worked as a Chess Tournament Director and have run chess clubs.

I have years of experience in preparing students for the SAT and ACT. I have also helped chess students ages 4-17 and adults both learn how to play chess and improve their game. Whether you need help with solving the grammar errors in the multiple choice SAT and ACT questions, predicting the answers to the sentence completions, or need help with either short or long reading passages I can assist you.

I hold a chess rating of 2082 with the United States Chess Federation. I am an experienced tournament player, teacher, and tournament and chess club director.
