I am currently an instructional technologist at the University of Tennessee, remotely supporting technology use for language teachers and students, writing research papers, copyediting dissertations, and tutoring French students wherever possible. My background includes more than two decades of French instruction via hybrid and online courses as well as living in France for a total of five years. I love exploring the French language and cultures and can help you find the "hook" that will make your exploration of French much more personal, enjoyable, and meaningful. I am in constant contact via modern technology and would love to share all of this with you as we explore the intricacies of the language together.

I have taken standardized tests from the ACT to the GRE. In my tutoring experiences (both freelance and with prominent tutoring companies), I have had great success in helping students unlock the secrets of the ACT by understanding that all assessments are essentially like games. The more you know about these and how to use them to your advantage, the more likely you are to improve your scores on each section of the ACT.

Before I fell in love with languages and technology, I was very adept in math, and studied up to Calculus II in college. I still work with statistics daily and I know that giving you 5-10 key formulas and how they present themselves on the ACT test will give you a real boost.

My goal is simple, I want you to improve your French, your essays and writing assignments, or your ACT scores and even (dare I say) ENJOY yourself while seeing the power that comes with hard work and perseverance. Drop me a line and schedule a lesson!

Dreamweaver

I have over a decade of experience with using Dreamweaver primarily as a tool for facilitating HTML pages. Dreamweaver is a great tool, but it is ultimately just a tool, it is not the end-all and be-all of web design. Once you learn the basic functions of Dreamweaver with me, it is a lot easier to go to more advanced topics in Dreamweaver like server-side includes, or even other packages in the Creative suite like Photoshop. There's a lot to learn, but Dreamweaver is a great place to start conceptualizing or even just maintaining your site.

ACT English

If you can function with any degree of proficiency in English, you are an expert! The key is to demonstrate that to the ACT English test graders. There are strategies to improve your speed and efficiency in answering questions, as well as avoiding trick questions the ACT writers like to include. By showing you how to effectively eliminate multiple-choice answers for each type of question, I can reduce your time on question, allowing to concentrate on getting the right answers.
ACT Reading,

ACT Reading

The key to the ACT Reading Test is to understand how to approach the four different passage types (Prose Fiction, Social Studies, Humanities, and Natural Sciences), starting with your strongest passage types and focusing on the test, not the clock. I have several methods for taking time off of the daunting task of reading four passages and answering ten questions each in an average of about 8 1/2 minutes for each passage. You can try them all out and decide which ones you want to use in your personal approach to the test.

ACT Math

The strategies I can teach you can help you put your knowledge of math and the format of the ACT Math Test to the best possible use. They can’t replace knowledge of math, but solidifying (or even learning) a few key formulas that get recycled on the test (some several times) will have a positive impact on your score. Wherever you are at, learning what 5 additional formulas to learn (and which ones to avoid) will make a significant difference in your score.
