I am a retired educator; I have taught for over 40 years, mostly in higher education but also in secondary education. Tutoring was a part of that experience. I am a retired educator; I have taught for over 40 years, mostly in higher education but also in secondary education. Tutoring was a part of that experience. The subjects I have taught include: all areas of history, introductory government classes, remedial English and writing, and all sorts of interdisciplinary subjects. In addition, I have business and computer experience.

I created and taught integrated and interdisciplinary courses at a college in Colorado. Furthermore, I created an introduction to college program for at-risk students.

I also taught and tutored Korean students and developed integrated classes as Academic coordinator of St Paul Language Academy in Daegu, South Korea. In general, I teach students not only what to learn but how to learn as a means to encourage life-long learning.

My purpose as an educator is to help students play a role in their own learning and become life-long learners, I individualize my approach to tutoring in the recognition that each student has his/her own needs. I derive great pleasure in seeing students grow and succeed.

I love history. Through the study of history I have come to understand quite a lot about the world in which we live and the people who inhabit it. My love for world history stems from my fascination with the lives of various peoples, both past and present. My residence and travels in many other cultures has enhanced my understanding and influenced my teaching. European history, of course, is a part of world history.

American history is another love of mine, helping me to understand my fellow citizens. And I began a self-study of geography as a child and see it as interesting in its own right but also as a necessity for the study of history.

I especially enjoy teaching social studies because of its interdisciplinary focus; it is an integrated study of the social sciences, humanities, and their relationship to other human activities.

I created and taught integrated and interdisciplinary courses as Dean of and professor in the Core program at Western State College of Colorado. Further, I created an introduction to college program for at-risk students at Western. This involved remedial, social studies, science and math courses. Tutoring was conducted as needed. Second, I taught and tutored Korean students and developed integrated classes as Academic coordinator of St Paul Language Academy in Daegu, South Korea. In general, I teach students not only what to learn but how to learn as a means to encourage life-long learning.
