I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado (dual major Chemistry and Biochemistry; recipient of Pfizer's excellence in undergraduate research award), and went on to complete my Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Michigan (recipient of the Hoffmann-LaRoche award in Organic Chemistry). I have worked in the pharmaceutical industry developing novel synthetic methods to advance drug discovery leading to 20+ publications and patents. Ever since my grad school days I have enjoyed teaching organic chemistry. I love watching my students have that "lightbulb" moment when everything makes sense.

The fundamentals of organic chemistry haven't changed in 75 years; however, the application of those fundamentals can lead to amazing novel breakthroughs in science.
