I hold a Ph.D. in Political Science from Florida State University, where I studied International Relations, with a specific focus on military intervention (the subject of my dissertation), terrorism and counter-terrorism, the Middle East Peace Process, and Presidential foreign policymaking in the post-WWII era. At Gavilan College, I currently teach Introduction to International Relations, American Politics, Comparative Politics and a class in International Terrorism. My teaching evaluations have been consistently excellent, and I was twice a finalist for the award - Teaching Excellence at Florida State University and several times at Gavilan College. More to the point, I teach five sections of Introduction to American Politics Online every year (one in the Fall, one in the Spring and three in the Summer). I have been doing so for several years. In sum, I'm a proven and effective college/university professor. It would be my pleasure and my honor to help you learn about global, American, Comparative politics as well as American history. I have a knack for bringing history and politics alive by sharing my personal experiences working in politics, consulting, running real world simulations in my classes and bringing members of the Gilroy and Hollister city councils, state assembly as well as police captains/chiefs, consultants etc into my classrooms to share their personal experiences and have dialogue with my students. It brings the subject matter I teach to life.
