I received my PhD in math from Texas A&M University in College Station specializing in Several Complex Variables. While there I assisted with student learning in four big ways. First, I lead recitation, a class for students to repeat and practice the ideas discussed in lecture. The best way to learn math is to do math and with this in mind, I provided students with worksheets, quizzes, and ask them many summarizing questions to make sure they understood the techniques and main ideas....

I received my PhD in math from Texas A&M University in College Station specializing in Several Complex Variables. While there I assisted with student learning in four big ways. First, I lead recitation, a class for students to repeat and practice the ideas discussed in lecture. The best way to learn math is to do math and with this in mind, I provided students with worksheets, quizzes, and ask them many summarizing questions to make sure they understood the techniques and main ideas.

Second, I volunteered in Texas A&M's one-on-one math tutoring service - a Hands-On learning environment that helps students solidify their understanding. Three, I actively hosted or assisted with office hours for students to seek addition math help. Four, I graded a lot of homework. Through grading assignments and activities, I learned to identify the common pitfalls for each math course. In many courses, students have thanked me for my help and this specific guidance. Courses that I've specifically assisted with include: algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, precalculus, calculus, multivariable calculus, ordinary and partial differential equations, introduction to proof, linear algebra, real analysis, abstract algebra, complex analysis, topology, number theory, graph theory, combinatorics, mathematical biology, dynamical systems and nonlinear equations, probability, and statistics.

Since graduating I’ve begun many projects. I've started my own business called ThatMathTutorGuy, an online exclusive math tutor service. I've worked with a company called Numerade to make math videos that provide full solutions to textbook math problems. I've also worked with the company 7EDU to prepare high school students (grades 8-12) for standardized testing such as SAT, ACT, AMC 12, and AIME.

I’ll end with two tutoring philosophy thoughts. 1) To learn math, you need to do math, so do lots and lots of examples and take ownership of those ideas! 2) To be a good teacher, be calm, patient, clear, go slowly, and know your stuff!

Calculus 3 with Zach

This semester I was struggling through a Calculus 3 college course. About halfway through the semester, I enlisted the help of Zach. Zach has helped through challenging problem sets and test preparation on a week-by-week basis. He is very knowledgeable on all of the topics my class has gone over and more often than not is able to explain the concepts in a helpful and easy-to-understand way. Every session I feel like I understand more about everything we went over. Most importantly, Zach has taught me the process and given me good strategies to understand mathematics better! I definitely recommend him if you are struggling in any math class (especially if you are not really a math person like I am) as Zach has made learning math not only fun but also relatively easy once you get into a session with him!

Awesome Tutor. Very helpful.

Zach is great at explaining difficult and challenging topics. He is very thorough and makes sure I don't miss anything the homework problems are asking for and require as part of the solution.

Patient and highly skilled!

I am a self-study learner, working on topology from a textbook and some online resources. Zach has been a fantastic tutor: he takes a lot of time to think over and explain the problems, and also assigns me the right problems to work. He's really fun to work with, and I think he would also be great for a high school student. Highly recommended.

Very patient tutor with a great array of knowledge. He's very good at explaining everything and shows his work really well.

Zach helped me work through integrals on calculus, and it was very helpful to see how everything needed to be done, step by step with all the formulas necessary. The lesson was very straightforward and easy to comprehend, which greatly assisted me. I feel like the lesson helped me increase my understanding of integrals.

Excllent tutor

We reviewed topics in real analysis to help me prepare for an exam. Zach answered all my questions and provided me with additional practice problems to solve. He also agreed to meet me at a nonstandard time because of scheduling constraints I faced. Highly recommended.

Great Tutor

Zach has been teaching our son calculus. He is very thorough and is able to quickly ascertain where focus needs to be placed. Our son has gotten 100% on his last two tests. The results are evident.

Cagdas, 40 lessons with Zach

Zach is an outstanding tutor.

We studied topology and abstract algebra. Zach was incredibly patient. There were times that I would have been frustrated with me, but Zach never displayed any impatience whatsoever. I'll continue to work with him, as not only did he help me improve my grades, but, more importantly, he helped me develop a deeper intuition of the topics at hand.

Patrick, 27 lessons with Zach

complex varaibles

Zach assisted me with the midterm review, providing valuable insights and various methods to solve the complex variables question, such as the Cauchy integral formula. In addition, he explained and gave me pointers on how to draw precise figures, interpret them, and then translate them into writing a simple formula. Overall, I learned a lot during the sessions and am now fully prepared for the midterm.

Peerapat, 12 lessons with Zach

Knowledgeable and very patient tutor

Zach showed me some methods to solve Differential Equations and how to identify the right tool to get a solution. What I liked is that Zach was already prepared beforehand with reference tables and definitions on how to identify the type of Differential Equation and what tool is needed to solve it. He was very patient with me explaining over concepts needed before solving Differential Equations.

Gian, 20 lessons with Zach

Very knowledgeable tutor.

Answered all my questions in Multivariable Calculus.
