Hello, I'm Valorie D., an experienced educator with a passion for teaching and a dedication to nurturing the unique strengths of every student. I hold a Bachelor's degree in French literature and am currently pursuing my Master's in Learning Design. My research is focused on learning and neurodivergence.

I have more than 22 years of classroom teaching and tutoring experience. Outside of the classroom, I have helped numerous students get into top tier schools as well as win scholarship money with their oustanding essays.

Inside the classroom, I have taught and tutored AP Language and Composition, AP Literature and writing. In addition, I coach a Model UN and Speech and Debate team. As a tutor, I have worked with both gifted and 2E students and students who have ADHD.

My tutoring approach is born out of a belief that everyone has the capacity to excel, and my mission is to provide the tools and guidance to unlock that potential. I use a hands-on approach, and focus on providing specific feedback that students can implement immediately to see results. I specialize in refining writing skills, whether it's the foundations of basic writing or the advanced nuances demanded by college-level courses. I've assisted countless students in conquering ACT and SAT English sections, and I'm well-versed in preparing ambitious learners for the challenges of AP Literature and AP Language and Composition. I also help students revise their essays and activities sections for the common app, scholarship applications or other admissions related tasks.
