I aim to identify and isolate concepts that students are having difficulty with and to explain and practice these concepts with simple translations until the student is confident in their understanding.

My own public (= UK state) high school students have taken 1st and 2nd places in grammar and reading comprehension at the Junior Classical League State Convention for five years straight, while competing against the top private and public schools in my state. This has included a somewhat unprecedented (for a public school) 1st, 3rd, and 4th place in the Latin 2 Grammar test at the 2024 convention.

I am familiar with the commonly-used textbooks (Ecce Romani, Cambridge Latin Course, Oxford Latin Course, Latin for the New Millennium, Suburani, etc.) and I can supplement these with my own teaching style to help students master the material. Beginning students also have the option of following the custom curriculum which I use in my classrooms.

I can also help prepare students for the National Latin Exam. Typically, just under half of my high school students gain a gold medal on the NLE (this is attained by about 12% of test takers nationally).

I received my teaching certificate through Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, and I have over ten years of classroom experience; prior to that I taught a semester of Latin as a graduate assistant at the University of Notre Dame. I hold a Tennessee and United Kingdom teaching license.
