Public Speaking

I am a certified educator with 14 years teaching experience in a variety of subjects including secondary and post secondary curriculum. My qualifications for Public Speaking include: Speaking to families camping in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campground where I was employed as a Park Ranger on topics such as our water safety, wildlife in the park, upcoming activities for families, public forums to discuss issues landowners had with the Corps, and promoting our Adopt-a-Highway Program. Other qualifications include; Conducting weekly informational meetings to potential teachers when I was the Coordinator of an Alternative Certification Program at a university in Dallas, for people wishing to teach and already had a bachelor's degree. I have also trained educators in Learning Styles based on the National Institute of Learning Styles created by Dr.Rita and Dr. Kenneth D. Other experience includes presenting at Native American seminars on the topic of the "Indian Child Welfare Act" while employed as a social worker for the Cherokee Nation. At the current time, I am a certified trainer of First Aid & CPR through the American Heart Association. I train students and staff on a weekly basis or as needed to keep everyone current on their CPR and First Aid certification.

My educational background includes a bachelors degree in the social sciences, a secondary certification in education as well as a Masters Degree in Education. I have 14 years of teaching experience that includes many hours of one on one teaching. The first thing I do with my students is to give them a short test to see what their Learning Styles are. The test will help me to tailor fit the lesson plans to the students strongest modality--or preferred learning style. For example; if they show a strong preference as a visual learner, I will make flash cards, charts, graphs, etc. and so on depending on if they are auditory, kinesthetic, visual, tactile or a combination all of the learning styles. I have taught many subjects out of my certifications on the computerized A+ system that enables secondary students to earn their credits in an Alternative Style of teaching.

Social Studies

I am Oklahoma Certified and Texas Certified in grades 6-12 World and U.S. Geography with 6 years experience teaching these subjects. I am also Oklahoma Certified in World History,Oklahoma History and U.S. History with 3 years teaching experience teaching those subjects. I also have 3 years teaching experience in Economics and U.S. Government. I am currently tutoring students in Oklahoma History on a one to one basis.

Baseball

I played 7 years of little league baseball and coached another 6 years of little league as a volunteer coach including 4 years as head coach and 2 years as an assistant. I have been a lifelong fan of the game and still keep up with the local and national teams.

Basketball

I have taken the Theory of Basketball course offered at my university. I have also been a volunteer at the grade school and middle school level teaching the basics of the game. I have also participated and managed and arranged tournaments at my school that I teach at. I have been a lifelong fan and follower of NBA Basketball as well as local college and high school teams.

Tennis

I have been a lifelong player and competitor of tennis. My past experience with teaching the game is I have given and offered private lessons in the basics for beginning tennis. I have played in tournaments and participated in intramural tennis in college.

Track & Field

I was on my high school and middle school track team for 5 years. I have also taken the college course for "Track and Field". In college, I did my internship under the track coach and assisted him with the team as far as traveling, planning the itinerary, and teaching one on one in the field events.
