I am a recent graduate from Ave Maria University, a small Catholic collage in south west Florida. I graduated with a B.A. in history. Upon graduating I decided to begin my career in education at the high school I used to attend, St. Gregory's Academy in Elmhurst PA. I was hired as an American History teacher and currently teach there. It was through my experience at both Ave Maria and St. Gregory's Academy, that I came up with my philosophy of history.

The importance I see in history is that it enables one to understand the past. Once one has a greater understanding of the past, one will be able to better understand how the past has shaped our present society. One our present society has been understood in greater detail, one will be able to understand how society has had an impact on our own lives. The method with which I attempt to accomplish this task is two fold.

My method of teaching is a mixture between the Socratic (Engaging the students via questions), and lecture. I believe both are necessary especially with regards to the subject of history. The lecture provides the student with historical facts. The Socratic method enables the student, through the teacher asking the proper questions, to engage his reason and understand not only that certain events occurred in history, but why these events occurred in history.
