About Paulina

Bio

I'm a California Certified (CTA) Science Teacher with five years of teaching experience. I've taught in various settings, including general science in middle school and AP biology in high school. Undoubtedly, teaching different types of science classes has allowed to me to gain experience with different age levels, skill sets, and learning needs.

A little about me .... I graduated Cum Laude from University of California San Diego, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Biology....

I'm a California Certified (CTA) Science Teacher with five years of teaching experience. I've taught in various settings, including general science in middle school and AP biology in high school. Undoubtedly, teaching different types of science classes has allowed to me to gain experience with different age levels, skill sets, and learning needs.

A little about me .... I graduated Cum Laude from University of California San Diego, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Biology. While at UCSD, I worked in cancer research and co-taught a Genetics class. After my undergraduate studies, I received my Master's in Education from LMU and went on to teach science in Los Angeles Unified School District. I'm currently a medical student and have goals to become a doctor.

From AP Biology to middle school Algebra, I'm comfortable tutoring any STEM related subject. I can also help with test prep for SAT and MCAT.

When it comes to my teaching philosophy, I believe in culturally responsive pedagogy and discussion based learning. Instead of having students sit through lectures and memorize material without purpose, I like to engage them in meaningful dialogue where they can share their thoughts and learn to solve problems on their own.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor.

Pauline is patient and kind. She takes time to assess what my son needs support in prior to the start of every session. She is clear, helpful, and uses real life examples of how and why different kinds of math is applied in every day life and different jobs. I think this helps my son better understand and value what he's learning. Paulina has been working with my son for a few weeks now. I believe tutoring with her helped my son achieve an "A" on a recent chapter quiz. My son's class is an advanced class so he needs to understand different math concepts at an accelerated rate, and as it gets more complex, it's really a nice reassurance to know that Paulina and tutoring is something my son will have to better support him, increase his confidence and knowledge outside of his math class. Paulina is great!
