In 1983 I began working in the film industry as a script supervisor and film editor in Buffalo, NY. Wanting to obtain a full-time professional position I decided to move to Chicago and for 12 years worked as a television commercial film/digital editor. In 1994, my first child was born and I became a stay at home mom for four years. I started volunteering at my daughters pre-school, moved on to her elementary school, where in 1999, I was hired as a teacher assistant at Clissold ELementary School. I have experience in both traditional and Montessori teaching methods.

An anti-bullying committe was founded at Clissold Elementary School. I can proudly say that I was very active with this organization. The formation of a parent/student library was one of my accomplishments, along with developing a film series, specializing in topics relating to bullying and interpersonal relations.

In 2006, our family moved back to Williasmville, NY, where I have been employed as a Computer Teachers Aide at Mill Middle School. My responsibilies include assisting ELA, Science, Art, Foreign Language, Home and Career and Math students navigate various software programs . The filming and editing of videos for the fifth grade class is a major project that I am in charge of, also I assist with editing of an eight-grade power point "yearbook".

I studied ethnographic Film at the State University of New York at Buffalo, with such luminaries as Herb Digoia, James Blue, Hollis Frampton, Tony Conrad, Paul Sharits, Brian Henderson, and Gerald O'Grady. My minor was in English and I studied with poet Robert Creeley, Howard Wolf and Bruce Jackson. My first job was joining an independent film crew with Fred Keller Productions: "Vamping" for nearly two years. I was then was hired as a casting assistant with Barry Levinson Films "The Natural". At this point in my career I decided to move to Chicago, Illinois due to the fact that Buffalo, NY does not have many opportunities for careers in film. My first post production company was Optiumus, Inc, Chicago, Illinois My clients were high-profile, Leo Burnett: United Airlines, DDB Needham: Michelob, Budweiser and Pepsi, Ogilvy: State Farm, Nissan, Ford Motor Company. My responsibilities included, prepping film for projection, synching film with sound reels, creating select reels, creating sound effects from a library or from actual live recordings, organizing trims, editing versions, attending and supervising sound mixes and voice over sessions, colorization sessions, final video edits, computer animation sessions, and continually re-editing versions for demanding clients who not only included art directors from Ad Agencies but Directors from Hollywood Film Companies. One of my clients was Ethan and Joel Cohen who filmed The Hudsucker Proxy partially in Chicago. My career began during the hey-day of 35mm film production and editing in Chicago. Using a KEM and moviola were standard practices, taking negative film to Astro Color Labs for interpostive prints to be used for editing was the method used before the advent of digitizing film..I feel extremely lucky to have grown up with 35mm film and also to have made the transition to Avid Media Composer, which was the program we used for digital editing. I started as a free-lance assistant editor with the Illinois Feature Project and worked exclusively at Kartemquin F

Cooking

While running "Sabine's Craft Service" in Chicago, Illinois I was responsible for providing breakfast, lunch and HEALTHY snacks for television commercial film crews that ranged from 10-20 people. Each morning fair trade coffee was served, along with made to order crepes and homemade granola..I created recipes specifically for my clients. My menu consisted of various ethnic appetizers; Asian pot stickers, rice balls, pork and tofu satay, mesa platters with eggplant, hummus, spicy yogurts, I was consistently praised for my innovative selections. Also created made to order protein shakes, smoothies, fresh fruit and vegetables from local farmers markets were a huge part of my repertoire. At One World Catering, Williamsville, NY some of my "gigs" included a 50th wedding anniversary party, a 35th high school class reunion more than a few high schools graduation parties and a fund-raiser for a New York State Assemblywoman. The menus were very involved, usually ethnic themed. I not only shopped, prepared menus and food, I also procured tables, chairs, linens, cutlery, barware, china, full bar set-ups, booked musicians, created music playlists, purchased and made decorations, invitations..everything..from "soup to Nuts" was entirely my responsibility. As a Line Chef, American Legion Post, Hamburg, NY, along with my partner Georgianne P., I was responsible for preparing all side dishes, homemade potato salads, lazy pierogis, coleslaw, macaroni salad and coleslaw. This was done nightly for a restaurant that often served over 200 meals. The pressure was often intense, the pace was very quick and stress levels were high. Most importantly we worked as a team and each night, we were able to successfully please all of our very demanding customers!
