I was born and raised in Central Pennsylvania. I went to college in Findlay, Ohio studying History and Art with a dual major. I received my Masters of Fine Art from Syracuse University and was a Graduate Instructor in the school of Visual and Performing Arts as well. I have been working as a Special Education teacher at the middle and high school levels for more than 25 years following my post graduate Special Ed certification from Millersville.
I have worked 1-1 with hundreds of teenagers in the school setting, home, and community. I love the opportunity to build relationships that focus on individualized goals and objectives. My students develop personal insight and empowerment as they identify and overcome challenges on their way to a deep sense of confidence and competence.
I have many years of experience working with all disability categories, though specializing in social thinking, self-regulation, problem solving, and learning support. My College History degree and years of experience support the teaching of Common Core social studies curriculum in the support setting.
I have a Masters of Fine Art in Painting from Syracuse and 40 years of experience working as a painter and potter.
I would love to support any student at the middle or high school level who may be struggling academically, socially, or behaviorally. I have found that these areas usually are entwined. With broad experience in the public school setting as a special educator, I am able to effectively tutor on many subjects.
