I simply love to read, and absorb facts about many things. I have been a successful student in the past and present; mainly because of curiosity and retention. Though comprehension is always key, I believe curiosity and memory retention can be learned traits. I have been a teacher in New York City, and later became a volunteer Literacy tutor in Massachusetts, and later in Maryland.

On those occasions, I followed a teaching style that is very student-centric. Although sticking to lesson plans give order and pace to the overall learning experience, my teaching and/or tutoring has also allowed me to see the benefits of crafting learning sessions that are directly relatable to student experiences; it gives the students a better chance to quickly reach that "aha moment" and say "I've got it." As a consequence, I also try to glean what is happening in the students' lives, because learning doesn't occur in a vacuum bubble apart from real-life.

There is nothing more rewarding to me than helping another to learn. So, I have a personal commitment to learn all I can, in order to impart knowledge to others. Part and parcel of that personal commitment is teaching others to excel as whatever endeavors they chose. Thus, in my continual learning on the graduate and legal fronts, I can say confidently that taking the opportunity to teach others, and to then witness their application of that knowledge gives me the perpetual satisfaction.

Of course, I rely on my personal experiences to bring empathy and enlightenment to the student-learners. At an early age, I learned about the concept of bacteria. How it can be good, forming the basis of medicine, or bad, forming the basis of sickness. Thus, I have won numerous science fairs, and even interned as an assistant researcher at the Museum of Natural History. And, in these modern times, understanding science can frame the individual's idea about global climate. Also, sociological factors within the community may reflect on whether or not an individual embraces certain political

I interned as a Congressional Press Secretary and Speechwriter. I gave speeches while in the Air Force, and acted as mistress of ceremony/emcee at several national events, where I routinely gave speech remarks and introduced guests. Currently, I hold volunteer officer positions in local Toastmasters International clubs (these clubs are dedicated to enhancing one's leadership and communication skills) in the Washington, D.C. and Virginia areas, where I give speeches, in-person and on Zoom calls, before live audiences.

Speech

I have personally conducted and evaluated many speech practices. As a Toastmaster member (the Toastmasters organization is dedicated to enhancing its members leadership and communication skills) I have mentored individuals on voice pitch and placement of lips, teeth, and tongue to achieve clear enunciation when giving a speech. Additionally, I have spoken and written about voice articulation and projection.

Bar Exam

I have taken and passed the bar exam on my first sitting. In preparation for taking the bar exam, I took a bar exam preparation course that taught me about honing and refining both my reading comprehension and essay-writing for specific jurisdictions. From my personal experience, I have modified methods which I can teach to others about taking the bar examination.

Best writing tutor/teacher on Wyzant! :) Patient and knowledgeable.

Sharon takes her time breaking down complex writing topics into simplified, digestible portions that allow for efficient writing, overcoming writer's block. I've struggled with writing for a long time now, but with her help, I've learned to overcome tedious sentences and grammar usage/editing.

Knowledgable

Sharon helped me with key concepts however it was hard to understand her, and it seems that there was a lot of miscommunication as she did not tend to hear what I was needing from her. However, she tried her best, and I am thankful for such.

Sharon has unique insights.....

I was very happy with Sharon's general insights; however for bar prep it is good for the instructor to pick out 5-10 key questions from Barbri or Kaplan to make their points.
