Hello, I have over twenty years of experience working with students who are Talented and Gifted, on the Autistic Spectrum, have ADHD, have a Specific Learning Disability, and/or Memory/Processing Disorder.

I am a Certified Academic Coach and hold a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology; I have training as an educator and child psychotherapist.

I love working with students and finding unique ways to help them reach their objectives. I have utilized many techniques that have proven successful in basic academic skills, organizational skills, communication, stress management, and confidence-building.

In addition to improvement of grades, academic coaching will many times improve:

Test Taking Skills
Self-esteem
Assertive speech
Organizational skills
Interviewing Techniques
Social Skills
Emotional Intelligence
Problem Solving
School/Life Balance
Stress Management

Have your child master vital life skills by learning to be more aware of how their thoughts and feelings influence their actions. This allows children, teens, and young adults to critically observe what is going on and choose reactions that are beneficial to them.

I also provide consultations, and coaching, to parents on how to begin the IEP process, tools for self-care while dealing with school districts, and virtual representation at IEP meetings for extra support.

Please contact me for a free consultation.

My rate is on a sliding scale of $95-$125.00

Sincerely,

Janet

A great teacher, very patient and knowladgeable

Since working with Janet, my son has been completely transformed. Before working with her, he would dread his classes, now he enjoys his homework and has fun doing it. His grades have improved so much that he has been nominated for Honors-level classes. Janet has worked with him a complete school year. In that time, I have seen his self-esteem and confidence grow. I believe this is due to Janet’s encouraging nature. She is very competent in her subject matter, and knows how to keep my son motivated. I am so grateful to have had her help and support. My son was so lucky to have a teacher like her and so will anyone else. Best wishes for you, Janet.

Caring and excellent

Janet coached my 8th grade son in writing this year. She was very helpful and knowledgeable with her instructions in teaching him proper formats and how to write essays, etc. But even more importantly she managed to improve his confidence as a writer. She is a very skilled, caring and excellent tutor.

Great tutor - very Kind

I highly recommend Janet. My 17 yr. old daughter was hopelessly stuck on a three part project for her English class. Janet was nice enough to step in on very short notice and help her through a thesis and PowerPoint presentation. She also gave my daughter some tips on how to calm herself down when she is feeling overwhelmed with homework. Through Janet’s coaching and encouragement, my painfully shy daughter had the confidence to deliver a 5 minute oral presentation based on her thesis which was graded an A+. My daughter says that she likes Janet because she is “very kind” – I agree!

Very patient and knowledgeable

My first session with Janet about one month ago. She has a good talent to find what problem is and how to address it. She suggested interesting approaches to me such as working on pronunciation and how to deal with stress. I found them very helpful and practical.

Patient and Very Kind!

I was looking for someone to improve my basic math skills. Not only did Janet assist me with that but, she was also able to guide me through various difficult situations in other sectors in life such as career, life term goals, family etc. It was a real pleasure to work with her and I would recommend her to anyone!

Insightful

I intuited that Janet M. was very insightful based on our e-mail thread before meeting and it was confirmed based on her conversation with my son. Although her evaluation was for my so to go to an educational therapist, her discussion gave us both insights into how he is able to process material. I would highly recommend her. She was also able to establish a rapport quite easily (and that is not always so easy) with my son.
