Hello! My name is Charlie and I am a student at UCLA majoring in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. I have taken all of the general courses in Biology, Chemistry, Math, and Physics while maintaining a 4.0 at UCLA. I have maintained an unweighted 4.0 since high school and have been tutoring for over 6 years now, tutoring students from elementary school age to college age. I fell in love seeing my students achieve their goals, finding passion for subjects they were learning, and watching them flourish in their potential.
I have extensive experience with tutoring from elementary school level through college level calculus courses. I took AP Calculus AB and BC in high school and I received 5s on each AP exam. Additionally, I earned the top math award at my high school. While at UCLA, I have again covered Calculus I and Calculus II (earning an A+ in each subject).
I can teach from general chemistry (high school to college level) to biochemistry. At UCLA, I have received an A+ in all my chemistry courses and have tutored each chemistry subject. I also took AP Chemistry while in high school and scored a 5 on the AP test.
I am also very comfortable teaching general biology and biochemistry. I have earned an A+ in every biology-related course at UCLA and I have taken AP Biology, scoring a 5. I currently work at a UCSF Neurodegenerative disease lab and am also in a UCLA lab covering the same subject, with previous experience in a quantum biology lab at UCLA. Furthermore, I developed my own study plan for the MCAT and received a 522 (99th percentile) my first time taking the test. I have helped my peers through the process, and am comfortable tutoring and guiding this process as well.
My approach involves actively asking for feedback on which methods (visual, verbal, written, etc.) work for each student and adapting my lesson to each student's individual needs. I try to integrate all teaching methods into my sessions so students can get a better understanding of what helps them succeed!
