For many students, understanding scientific concepts can seem like an impossible task, especially when some subjects are already inherently difficult. However, science is just the ultimate extension of common sense, and once you understand the logic of it all, most concepts become quickly comprehensible.

I have taught college level science courses since 1995 for a variety of universities and colleges. As a research biologist with a Master’s Degree in neurobiology/animal behavior, I have acquired a great range of knowledge and experience. This is mostly due to my behavioral research on rats, monkeys, whales, dolphins, wolves and my years of interacting with students. Learning goes both ways, between teacher and student. Such a broad view of science has allowed me to teach students how to see the world in a variety of ways. They can then make the connections between chemistry, biology and behavior, and how it all fits into the greater view of ecology and physical science. Therefore, I have taught a variety of college level courses: environmental science, anatomy/physiology (to nursing students), physiological psychology (brain physiology), ecology, biology, chemistry, developmental psychology, physical science, and animal behavior. I can help you with any of these subjects.

My science background has also lead to a great deal of writing, from scientific papers to magazine articles - even a book. The result has been a rewarding journey in educating the public about scientific principles and ideas then watching them “get it.” Therefore, if you need help with essential writing skills or producing term papers, science reports and creative writing assignments, you’ve come to the right place.

My work ethic is high. I take great care to ensure my approach to teaching is fun and interactive. Although I have a 24-hour cancellation policy, I try to be flexible with scheduling sessions. So I look forward to hearing from you and helping to make science not only understandable but fun!

Macintosh

I was an Apple Tech for four years in Kalispell, Montana near where I live. I conducted maintenance and repair on Macintosh computers, both laptops and desktops. I also taught tutorials to the public on how to use their computers and applications. I have used Mac computers since their beginning for all of my research projects, both in labs and in the field. In other words, I've experienced most Mac models since the 1980s.

Zoology

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Zoology and a Master's Degree in Biology. This includes courses in mammalogy and comparative anatomy among vertebrates and invertebrates, both terrestrial and aquatic. I've conducted field research on a variety of whales and now wolves since 1992. I've also published my studies, both on wolves and whales, in peer-reviewed scientific journals. I've taught at a variety of major universities and several community colleges about the natural history of mammals, most especially whales and wolves, including volunteer activities at natural history museums in which I cataloged and prepared mammalian specimens.
