I am a conservation scientist who loves to tackle interesting quantitative questions and make compelling figures in R. I am a trained wildlife biologist with extensive experience working on issues related to the ecology and conservation of amphibians and reptiles.
I have taught university-level field courses on topics related to herpetology, dendrology, and conservation biology. I have also informally mentored dozens of students on ecological study designs, GIS techniques, biostatistics,...

Insanely patient, conscientious, and skilled R/stats tutor!
I'm an adult learner enrolled in a statistical analysis w/ R course and Harrison has me out with both homework, covering complex topics like general linearized models (e.g fitting Poisson regression w/ an offset), to helping me with R coding, particularly as I try to integrate my new skills into work, over the last few months. Harrison extremely patient, as I learn, as well as upfront about what is/is not an expert on, for which I am most grateful for: he's always willing to help out and teach, which I don't think everyone else would (e.g. occasional lesson // very particular and/or obscure questions). This willingness and effort, though, is revealing of who he is: simply a good person. He cares about quality of the lesson and your understanding it all -- carving out space for questions, going above and beyond to place either the statistical concepts and/or coding into greater context (always super helpful), always soliciting feedback at the end of the lesson and even answering follow-up questions via message on his own time. It shows, too, in the little thing: I've learned so many RStudio keyboard shortcuts (that he's patiently repeated numerous times!) (i.e. read: things not explicitly relevant to my lesson but that he cares to teach because he wants you to be generally good and confident). Couldn't recommend Harrison more!

Very helpful
Harrison asked meaningful questions to ensure he understood my project needs, he provided me with multiple helpful resources, and gave me guidance on how I could proceed on my own after the tutoring session. Would definitely recommend him for anyone with wildlife or ecology based questions.
