I have just completed the three tests required to be certified for California high school mathematics teaching. The tests are called CSET and are geared to recently graduated university math majors. The university degrees I have: B.A. in Mathematics and B.S. in Electrical Engineering are from the 1980's and I did a lot of self study to regain the abilities to pass the CSETs.

The subjects I have been tutoring in are mostly with a student from Lowell high school are: advanced plane and solid geometry, analytical geometry, algebra II, trigonometry, number theory, and calculus.

Before tutoring, I was retired for many years after a very successful career. A big reason I was successful in the field of telecommunications engineering was my ability to explain to upper executives, technicians, marketing personnel, and legal teams complex concepts so they firmly grasped them.

I am now dedicated to understanding and teaching math from basic level material to advanced level material. I have a talent for teaching such that the student also quickly understands why math solves the math problem at hand. Children, adults and teenagers I interact with generally like my personality.

I am adept with various math computer tools and have a lot of math reference material in book and print-out form. Invariably as I find out where a student needs improvement I use computer generated block diagram models and graphs as part of the teaching lessons. A thing I say is "hey, math can do that." If "math can do that" then "I can teach that" to you or whomever I am teaching.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

As Algebra I introduces solvable equations and functions of one variable it is the first step toward understanding higher math such as calculus and statistics. These foundations are important and I enjoy preparing students for the next learning level.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

All of the following topics are very familiar to me. I am continually practicing math techniques and problem solving which require using algebra. I can help! Real Numbers and Algebraic Expressions Equations, Inequalities and Problem Solving Graphs and Functions Rational Expressions Rational Exponents, Radicals and Complex Numbers Quadratic Equations and Functions Probability and Statistics Function Operations Exponential and Logarithmic Functions Systems of Equations Exponents, Polynomial and Polynomial Functions Analytical Geometry Sequences and Series
Calculus,

Calculus

It is my fondness for both basic and advance calculus which makes my enthusiasm evident when teaching calculus. Limit theory and applications I make sure is understood as the new function, the derivative is based on the indeterminate 0/0 limit resolution. There are six absolute value, nine limit and 15 derivative theorems I teach which cover the basic theory for derivative calculus. The actual derivative of functions I calculate easily and have shortcuts that I show/teach to students. I am adept at finding solutions to the various applications dependent on derivative function. The second half of most calculus courses focus on the anti-derivative, the integral function. I have several teaching explanations which illuminate the inverse nature of the integral leading to the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. Using the integral to find surface areas and volumes often require detailed analytical geometry problem set-up. Analytical geometry is another area where I have a lot of experience that help me lead students to succeed in their efforts to solving integral function application problems.
Geometry,

Geometry

I am knowledgeable in the theorems and problem solving in basic geometry. That is, in: triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, golden ratio applications, circles, ellipses, and basic solids. In 2014 I completed two advanced geometry books. The first examines Newton's geometric methods for equating ellipses and orbit periods with a focus and 1/r squared proportional forces. The second examines the three great geometric problems the Greeks could not solve by construction. Both require a thorough understanding of basic geometry as well as more advanced analytical geometry.

Trigonometry,

Trigonometry

Currently studying and doing problems/documenting Advanced Trigonometry a text book by Robson. Not only can I tutor what you is being taught, but this book allows me to introduce new and fun concepts regarding the trigonometric functions and domains. Trigonometry classes expect the student to know the meaning of all the trigonometry functions. I have ingrained knowledge of the functions and am good at communicating their meaning to students. Next is the need to transform the basic graphs by domain and/or range multiplication and addition. This too I have been successful in teaching students how a negative value added to the domain variable results in a positive shift in the graphs. Trigonometry Identities for me are easy to teach although many students are intimidated with them. Solving trigonometric equations require the understanding of the inverse trigonometric functions and their respective domains and ranges. My math knowledge includes being adept with inverse functions and I have some shortcut methods I teach which make them clearer. It is also important in trigonometry to know for sure how to resolve angle additions in all the basic functions. My teaching stresses both the geometric proof for the cosine addition result as well as the derivations of each the trigonometry sum function.

Knowledgeable and loves teaching.

He helped my son with his precalculus homework. Dayv explained and made sure he understood everything. He answered all his questions with patience. He gave plenty of time with each lesson without charging extra.

Smart, kind and enthusiastic tutor

Dayv has been tutoring my daughter through the spring semester of Honors Geometry. She finds him to be patient and kind, but most importantly he honestly loves math and does everything he can to share that with her. He comes prepared for each session, and has been inventive in bringing props to explain physical geometry concepts. He also brings summaries of important points and works on the "big picture". I highly recommend Dayv.

Very good tutor

Dayv came very prepared and had a cheat sheet of notes for those cramming for a test like me! He is very kind.

Tutor responded:

Actually it was an algorithm I made in a computer diagram pertaining to limits of sequences and series so there is a method to determine the limit or lack of limit.
