As a graduate from the University of Arizona with a BA in Anthropology, I know how stressful it can be as a full time student and that the stress can sometimes make it difficult to study for exams. I have always enjoyed having the opportunity to help other students in need and worked as an English teacher with a local Refugee network in Tucson, AZ teaching English classes as well as with high school students for three consecutive summers as they took an array of different courses through the university. Anthropology was a passion and coupled with the History and Classics minors, I was able to explore many different topics while keeping my courses closely tied with what I eventually want to do, become a teacher.

As a tutor I find it is most important to be patient and thorough in finding information, as it can sometimes be tricky to do. Students need someone with whom they feel comfortable working, not someone they are afraid of or intimidated by. I try to be as open as I can so that students are not afraid or intimidated. College is already terrifying enough. But I look forward to helping as many students as I can.

ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

I worked as an ESL teacher for a semester during college, working with refugees in the Tucson, Arizona area from Nepal and Bhutan. Some had been in the country for several years and had received no tutoring in English whatsoever, while others had a massive grasp on the language. They were all eager to learn and I truly enjoyed working with them. By the end of the semester I was proud to be able to reveal to the Honors College, through whom I worked, that at least two of the people attending the classes had been able to find employment after only spending a semester with myself and my partner.

History

American History,

American History

American history is something I was raised around. I grew up in Boston, MA where the subject was highly emphasized every other year through school. I also have a minor in history in which I looked at women's history in the U.S. and world wars I and II. I love history and I have a great respect for it.
Anthropology,

Anthropology

I currently hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in this subject from the University of Arizona. I have taken most courses for this subject, from the four core classes in Biological Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Principles of Archaeology, and Linguistic Anthropology to more advanced courses such as those focusing on art and architecture of Rome and the Prehistory of East Asia. Most of these courses also included written portions, which is something I enjoy doing. I find that with some that include vocabulary that flash cards are simplest and highlighting key facts in the texts are also helpful in studying.
Classics,

Classics

Classics has always been a specialty of mine. While majoring in Anthropology, I realized that I needed a minor that would allow me to pursue the information that I enjoyed. From Ancient Egypt to Ancient Greece, I learned as much as I could and continue to study the subject in my spare time. I own multiple books on Egypt, the Aegean, the Middle East and other topics and can research quickly and easily. My thesis written in my final year of college focused mainly on the topic of the Elgin Marbles and the debate surrounding the idea of repatriation or the return of cultural objects to their homeland.
European History,

European History

European history is something I absolutely love and I read about it as much as I can and whenever I get the opportunity. I’ve looked at everything from Elizabethan England to modern history or even events that intertwined the US and Europe!
Government & Politics,

Government & Politics

I took AP Government while in high school and still retain most of my information from the class. I do as much as I can to stay up on current events to better my understanding of politics.
World History

World History

I currently hold a bachelors degree in anthropology with a double minor in history and classics. I’m a quick researcher and can find information in less than an hour. I am good about deadlines and can convey information in a way that is easy to understand. I absolutely love history and my favorite subjects are ancient Egypt and the Middle East!
