¡Saludos! I am a former teacher of Spanish for grades 7 through 12, including Advanced Placement classes, as well as an in-house language instructor, translator, and interpreter for a large engineering company. I am a magna cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt University with a major in Spanish, and I've done graduate coursework in translation/interpretation at Georgia State University.
My work history also includes 40+ years in the fields of international education and international development. I have lived in Spain, Mexico and Guatemala. My schedule is quite flexible as I am recently retired.
How does a native English speaker end up teaching Spanish and loving other languages and linguistics in general? It all stems from the influence of the person who initially piqued my interest -- my 9th-grade Spanish teacher! I try to bring not only those same teaching skills but also -- and even more importantly -- that same contagion and excitement for learning Spanish to my tutoring.
