I’m a writing instructor with 4+ years of experience guiding preparatory high school students to structure and edit school English papers and College Admissions Essays. What differentiates me from other writing advisors is that, as a practicing fiction writer, I’m uniquely capable of helping students capture a creative voice that allows their work to stand out from a sea of other essays.

I received my B.A. in English from Stanford University, where I taught undergraduates at the Hume Center for Writing and Speaking to read critically and write intentionally, encouraging them to not only achieve excellence from a technical perspective, but to develop a genuine intellectual curiosity within themselves about the topics they are writing about. I also studied in the Creative Writing Department, leading me to win the Stanford University Urmy/Hardy Poetry Prize. Recently, I received my M.F.A. in Fiction Writing from Columbia University, where I was nominated for prestigious scholarships both years.

I have the technical knowledge to teach SAT test-prep (I received 800s on the SAT Reading and Writing sections), but prefer to teach critical essay writing because it is my passion to instill intellectual curiosity about writing in students. I am most passionate about working with students on school academic papers, and writers of all ages on creative fiction or non-fiction projects, but am equally experienced and adept in assisting with College Admissions (Common App essays, supplements, etc.).

I split my time between Manhattan and the Washington D.C. Proper, and am able to teach online or in-person. I also love working with younger children in early literacy education.
