Bio

I have taught and tutored in a variety of settings with students of all ages. The main thing I've discovered in this is that everyone knows more than they give themselves credit for. A good tutor helps uncover all this and refine this.

I have taught classes introducing children to basic computer literacy at a summer camp at GMU. I tutored undergraduate and graduate students in English composition there at GMU and at St. Andrews.

I have taught classes introducing children to basic computer literacy at a summer camp at GMU. I tutored undergraduate and graduate students in English composition there at GMU and at St. Andrews.

I have also worked as an Adjunct English Professor at LaGuardia Community College, teaching composition and remedial grammar to incoming freshmen.

Teaching English reading & writing skills is just another aspect of my passion for language. Showing people how to make the most of this vital tool is just fun!

Anthropology,

Anthropology

As an undergrad at GMU I studied anthropology. I did not have enough credit hours to make it an official minor. However, I'd taken enough classes to qualify for written permission to take a graduate level class on controversies in modern anthropology. This course, which I enjoyed immensely, focused on the unavoidable bias each ethnographer brings to their subject and the field of anthropology has sought to counterbalance such biases.
Classics,

Classics

While at GMU I studied classical literature of Greek and Roman origin, especially the proto-novels; such as, The Satyricon and The Wonders Beyond Thule. This class attempted to trace the thematic and stylistic roots of early European literature. I also studied the heroic archetypes of classical mythology and literature. In this class we learned to compare and contrast with modern heroic archetypes in modern culture, from John Wayne-esque machismo to the Odysseus-like heroism of Bugs Bunny. My favorite course of study explored Classical Greek myths as a social revolt against establishment values.
