With a Ph.D. in history, and a master's and bachelor's in journalism, I have a lot of writing experience. Not only am I an SAT grader and an AP reader, but I am a high school and college educator. I work with college-bound and college-aged individuals on a daily basis and feel very comfortable interacting with young people possessing diverse skills and backgrounds. Though currently working with older students, I have also worked at the elementary and middle school levels. In my role as a teacher, I have been intimately involved with curriculum development, learning communities, ESL teaching, teacher mentoring, student-teacher mentoring and evaluations, classroom visitations, recruitment of students and teachers, professional development, academic and career advising, and committee involvement. In addition, as a member of the New England Independent Schools Re-accreditation Committee, I have first-hand knowledge of the ingredients necessary for a successful secondary and post-secondary academic experience.

I thrive on creating a positive environment when I am working with students. Creativity and an ability to quickly assess a situation and develop a successful strategy to meet the needs of that “issue” are hallmarks of my personality.

Being a good teacher requires one to work with colleagues and utilize a variety of techniques to reach all students. Assessing those techniques is also essential. Throughout my career I have tried to find new opportunities to enhance my students’ learning experience. For the past three years, the College Board has hired me to be a reader for the Advanced Placement Eur
