I have been a Special Education Teacher for 10+ years in the public school setting. I am currently working as an Elementary Learning Support Teacher. I recently completed Orton-Gillingham training which increased my knowledge of how to effectively teach children phonics and put their knowledge together to become fluent readers.
Being a Special Education Teacher, I have a lot of experience in creating ways to learn certain concepts for students that struggle learning from their regular education teachers. There are so many rewards that come with seeing a student learn a concept that they struggle with.
I have always worked with students that struggle with reading and understanding what they are reading.
I treat all students that I come into contact with like I would want to be treated, with respect. I respect my students as well as their families. I have a lot of patience if it takes longer for students to catch on the certain concepts. I am also very creative with trial and error of methods that work and ones that do not work and then fix them. With that being said, I willingly accept any feedback from both the student and their parents/guardians.
I have a great deal of experience of working with all age groups from elementary to high school.
