I have been teaching for 16 years and hold a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I enjoy tutoring students because it allows me to work one on one with a student so that we can delve deeper into the curriculum. It is important for me to pre-assess my students so that we an track their progress. Students feel rewarded when they can see their growth and begin to improve on assessments in the classroom. I enjoy teaching all elementary subjects, but I do have a passion for math. There seems to be a few road blocks in the math world and I find great joy in helping students navigate through the curriculum. There are several different ways to look at a math problem and finding the strategy that works best for a student is key to their success.

Learning how to read opens the door to a whole new world. Taking time to demonstrate and explain phonics skills through games and activities can help a student feel successful. Comprehension can also be a struggling point when learning how to read. Teaching students to slow down and delve deep into what is taking place in the store can bring out their passion for reading.
