My name is Natasha, and since I was a little girl, reading has always been a favorite pastime. As I grew older, reading became a source of comfort, a stress reliever, fun, and I found myself enjoying it more and more over time. I believe that reading is an important tool to help develop communication skills. It also helps with brain activity and eye coordination.

I have been tutoring for approximately 20 years and have worked with students of all ages, using personally developed techniques to keep my students intrigued and ever learning. I can proudly say that the students that I have worked with came to me in need of reading help and left me with a broader vocabulary and more confidence, causing them to excel beyond their imagination. Once you become my student, we will work together, both giving 100% and failure will not be an option.

I received my tutoring license for Hillsborough county in 2012 and take pride in knowing that I am able to successfully help others achieve their educational goals. I approach tutoring by getting to know my students, their personalities and their character and begin building a trusting relationship. I want my students to know that I am here to help them succeed.

Theater

I have had a passion for theater since I was a little girl. The opportunity to become someone else, command the stage, interact with others and entertain a room full of people has always been my motivation when it comes to acting. I have written, directed, produced, and starred as the lead character in approximately 12 stage productions. I have been on major stages up and down the East Coast and included in productions that were seen at film festivals, won awards and were turned into movies. I have taught actors that had the desire and no real experience land lead roles in stage productions after only 3 months under my leadership. I take pride in acting and bringing characters to life. I am definitely qualified to teach others.

Common Core,

Common Core

As a Lead teacher for more than 4 years at an accredited academy for grades kindergarten through fifth, as well as being a tutor to junior high through high school students, I have had the pleasure of teaching Common Core. Recognizing the value and need for consistent learning has been the basis for my implementation of Common Core skills. Based on rigorous content and application of knowledge through higher order thinking skills, I have studied and researched the academic progress of our nation's students and recognize that we have lost ground compared to other countries. So, I take great pride in setting academic standards for my students that challenge them to think and encourage them to grow, preparing them for college readiness and success.

Handwriting,

Handwriting

There are three important parts to handwriting, whether a child is learning to print or write in cursive. Uniform letter size, uniform slant and correct formation. Many children want to write their own name before anything else, so I always start with a students name because it grasps their interest. When I am working with my students, handwriting is a part of our daily to do list. Repetition is key to good success. I give my students popsicle sticks to use for consistent spacing. I have helped students increase handwriting in less than 3 months by praising good letter writing and helping with letters that aren't so great. Challenging them to do their best and setting expectations that we both agree on.
Phonics,

Phonics

I have had the privilege of teaching phonics to an elementary class of 23 students for approximately 3 years. Focusing on the ability to hear, identify and manipulate phonemes to distinguish between sounds and spelling patterns is my method of teaching that has proven to be successful. I teach blending sound patterns and decoding written words. The visual and hands on approach gives the student total control and helps them feel more confident in learning.

Taking time to master these skills will not only improve performance in school, but also the ability to learn in general. This technique has helped me to help students increase their grades, have better comprehension and confidence through the roof.

As an international recording artist, I have studied vocal technique for many years. Proper breathing, tone, diction, vocal exercise, rest, hydration and warm vocal chords are just a few of the many components of proper voice training. Knowing your range is crucial to your vocal longevity, because overstressing your vocal chords could cause serious if not permanent damage. I have taught vocal lessons to children and adults, ages ranging from 6 to 80 and they have all given nothing but extremely positive feedback.

best music teacher ever!!!

She and TW taught my rambunctious toddlers music with so much love, patience, inspiration, and infectious enthusiasm. I was amazed they could teach notions of scales, pitch, rhythm, and singing technique in ways they could love and understand. Can't recommend highly enough!
