My name is Marty, and I would love to tutor your children in whatever they need help in. I majored in History at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and also achieved an Associates in Science from Parkland Community College. For my Associates degree, I studied mostly chemistry and math, but also physics and biology. For my history major, I mostly studied European History, but also took many classes in U.S. and Ancient History. I feel that I am very proficient in all areas and levels of History and Math, but I can help in other subjects as well.

Before college, I attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School, finished in the top 10% of my class, and scored a 30 on my ACT. During my time there, I took AP Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, and played on the baseball team.

I have worked at Flossmoor Country Club for 10 years, so I have met many of the South Suburbs' most influential people. I have also helped many kids become great caddies at this club, by teaching them and helping them if they had any troubles. During college, I tutored the 13 year old daughter of the cook at our fraternity for two years, usually for two hours a week. We studied mostly math, but I also helped her with science and history questions.

After college, I have worked with my girlfriend's 10 year old niece a few times in different areas that she needed help in. I have also helped a friend of mine that was having trouble in math at Elmhurst College.
I feel that I am a very patient tutor, and can greatly help children learn material that they are struggling in. I do not give them the answers, but rather push them in the right direction, and make sure that it sticks with follow-up questions. I am also a fun person that can make learning enjoyable for anyone, usually through metaphors that will resonate with children. I would love to tutor your kids of any ages, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Reassuring and knowledgeable

In just 2 tutoring sessions, Marty has helped my daughter build her confidence in honors chemistry. She has a solid base of the basic chemistry concepts and he is building her knowledge. She has already gotten a better grade on her weekly test. We are very happy that we found Marty and relieved.

Marty's Tutoring - Solid Match!

Marty's capable and wide scope of subjects turned out to be a solid match for our "tutee's" needs. Not only did Marty review all her homework, but zeroed in on the areas for which she had upcoming tests. Marty contextualized her areas of study, gave her added motivation, and conveyed confidence and trust that ongoing tutorials would work well! Highly recommend!

Great Geometry Help

Marty tutored my son in geometry for the first time yesterday. He did a great job in explaining the material to him. My son mentioned that Marty explained better than his teacher. My son will use Marty to tutor him in Chemistry also.

Knowledgeable tutor

Our first session went very well. Marty helped my two daughters with math lessons and homework. He had a vast amount of knowledge in both subjects. My daughters felt more confident about their homework assignments for the next day and the material in general.

Exceptional

Marty was very patient and thorough with my son helping him prepare for a final exam. Highly recommend. He responded very quickly and was easy to communicate with. It made it so much easier for a busy parent that he came to our house!

Very patient

After meeting Marty, I just knew my son would do really well with him! My son was very frustrated & I thought Marty had his work cut out for him, but after just 1 visit with Marty, my son was feeling much more positive about his struggles with Math. Marty's patience is a virtue as he puts the power of "getting it" into the student's hands. My son will be working with Marty till he graduates for sure!
