Hey, I’m Devante! I’m a STEM teacher with experience teaching at the elementary, middle and secondary levels. With 10 years of experience as a classroom teacher, I specialize in Algebra 1, AP Computer Science Principles, and College Algebra. I am currently a facilitator for Math 1021 and 1022 for dual enrollment through LSU.

As the 2024 Louisiana Teacher of the Year Semi-finalist, I have a track record of proven results. It is my mission to serve students from diverse racial and socio-economic backgrounds by grounding my teaching practice in individualized learning and building strong relationships. I will work to create a culture of educational trust by encouraging students to celebrate the small achievements and not shy away from failure or mistakes, which are essential to the learning process. In my classroom, I place value on developing a growth mindset – highlighting progress not perfection. In this role, I will invest students in tracking their data, both quantitative and qualitative, so they are better positioned to build ownership of their educational journey.
