About Jill

Bio

Helping people achieve their own goals is one of my favorite things about teaching. As a university professor, I've had the opportunity to work with hundreds of students over the past decade in subjects ranging from literature to history and philosophy.

I specialize in tutoring English (both Pre-AP/Honors, AP, and non-Honors), writing, reading, and the Russian language, as well as essay writing, and standardized tests (ACT, SAT, GMAT, GED and GRE exams).

Helping people achieve their own goals is one of my favorite things about teaching. As a university professor, I've had the opportunity to work with hundreds of students over the past decade in subjects ranging from literature to history and philosophy.

I specialize in tutoring English (both Pre-AP/Honors, AP, and non-Honors), writing, reading, and the Russian language, as well as essay writing, and standardized tests (ACT, SAT, GMAT, GED and GRE exams).

One of my areas of expertise is proofreading and editing college application essays. This experience comes from my time working at college writing centers, and sitting on admission committees for various college programs. In addition to correcting grammar, spelling, and logic errors, I also focus on structure, argument, and flow. I help my students write their college and graduate schools essays so that they stand out from the crowd and avoid the common pitfalls that plague most application essays.

I have over a decade of teaching experience at both the high school and college levels. Currently, I teach Writing and Composition at a major research university. I love helping students learn how to turn their ideas into papers.

One of the advantages of working with me is that I will adjust to your unique situation. After assessing your strengths, weaknesses, and specific concerns, I'll focus on what you need to learn. This means that your lessons with me are tailored to your needs rather than a general prescribed lesson plan.

Jill helped my son with his college admission materials including his college essay, resume and several writing supplements. She provided solid advice on several parts of these drafts; either to rewrite the whole section or certain parts of it or sometimes to expand on some themes. She was very attentive to details, advising on the use of right words and sentence construction and the final piece looked very professional.
