Hello! I'm Abby.

I have been a professional tutor since 2015. With experience tutoring anything from reading and writing to SAT/ACT test prep and college apps, I enjoy helping students of all ages reach their full potentials.

Hello! I'm Abby.

I have been a professional tutor since 2015. With experience tutoring anything from reading and writing to SAT/ACT test prep and college apps, I enjoy helping students of all ages reach their full potentials.

My areas of expertise are all things college prep and English: ACT test prep, SAT test prep, college application essays, the Common App, college counseling, general essay writing, literacy, reading comprehension, and writing skills development.

As a certified college counselor, I am able to help with as much or as little of the admissions process as needed. College counseling looks different for each student, so I come up with a plan that is customized to each student’s needs. For some students, this will include minimal support reviewing application essays. For others, this may include more focused guidance through steps such as ongoing test prep for the ACT or SAT, identifying schools that will be a good fit, personal statements and supplemental essays, completing the steps of the applications, and more.

I also have three years of corporate experience tutoring literacy and reading comprehension at Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes. I am trained in Lindamood-Bell's effective Visualizing & Verbalizing and Seeing Stars programs for literacy and reading comprehension development. Similarly, I have a lot of experience working with students with learning disabilities through Lindamood-Bell and with the college admissions process, which can have some unique hurdles for students requiring specific accommodations.

What a truly wonderful person!

I could not have hoped to have found a more qualified counselor than Abby for our daughter who is navigating the college admissions process. To make it more challenging our daughter is applying overseas to a university in Prague. Abby applied extremely fine-tuned, strategic and encouraging guidance to help our daughter’ raise her ACT score from a 25 to a 29. For a very intelligent student, trying to overcome serious, ADHD issues this accomplishment is worth far more than positioning for college opportunities: it is a life, saving font of confidence in one’s ability to overcome a real challenge few can fully comprehend. Abby is now helping our daughter with approaches to her college essays. Abby’s truly amazing attitude, fun and inquisitive manner combined with her ability to connect authentically with a teenager simply blows my mind. We would be struggling as a family to make it through this process, I imagine there would have bern tears, screaming, slamming doors, anger and angst.
