Bio

Hello, my name is Melina. I have a bachelors Degree in Physical Education and Sport Sciences. I have worked with children since 2007 and I love it. I had the opportunity to coach swim teams for the past 10 years and worked with children between the ages of 4 through 16. I love teaching and making learning fun. I have taught middle school students science, biology match and English for a year and I am currently teaching ESL online with a Chinese company for the past year.

Hello, my name is Melina. I have a bachelors Degree in Physical Education and Sport Sciences. I have worked with children since 2007 and I love it. I had the opportunity to coach swim teams for the past 10 years and worked with children between the ages of 4 through 16. I love teaching and making learning fun. I have taught middle school students science, biology match and English for a year and I am currently teaching ESL online with a Chinese company for the past year.

I have worked with children with Asperger syndrome in the past and I am comfortable and patient with ADD cases as well. My goal is to make teaching a healthy and fun environment and allow the students to learn different school subjects through activities and even songs.

I love nature and like to include tools in the classroom to make learning more fun and real!

TPR (total physical response) is a great tool that I like using during the ESL lessons, pictures and illustrations are my favorite too! I use lesson plans in which I usually introduce the topic in a fun and creative way, then explicitly teach the material. Afterwards I always ensure time for students to practice the material on their own. Of course the method can be adjusted based on the subject and student's individual needs.

I am a greek native speaker. I speak 4 languages but Greek is my mother language and I love to teach it. I have taught greek as a second language for over 2 years in the past and have worked in a class setting of 10-15 students.

Focuses on oral communication

Melina responded well to my request to emphasize correct pronunciation, and she encouraged me when my tongue would not cooperate. She was patient and taught at my speed of understanding, and not just cramming her lesson into 60 minutes. I will definitely schedule another session with her!
