I’m a recently retired public school teacher who taught 4th grade for 30 years. Many of my students were sons or daughters of service members (Ft. Drum). I’ve had the privilege of teaching children of all abilities, including many with IEPs.
I thoroughly enjoyed my 30 years and would do it all over again without hesitation. I live with my beautiful wife and two Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs (Bodhi and Ginger) along the Lake Ontario coast in northern New York.

I’m able to take any skill or concept and make it comprehensible to even the most struggling students. I view each child as an individual and therefore am able to approach instruction from many angles.

I’ve taught reading and writing for 30 years; I’m an avid (NY Times/Wall Street Journal) crossword solver; and I especially enjoy proofreading and editing children’s writing.

I approach American history as a story to be told rather than a collection of chapters in a textbook. I took many American history courses in college and have continued to expand my knowledge even to this day.
My 4th graders were better versed in the basics of American history than many of their older peers.
