My name is Madeline (she/her)! I graduated summa cum laude from Clark University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and German Studies and a Master’s of the Arts in Teaching. I have my Pennsylvania Instructional 1 teaching license for 5-12 grade English and Language Arts, and my German proficiency is at a level C1.
Between obtaining my undergraduate and graduate degree, I worked as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Greifswald, Germany. I assisted in English Language classrooms at a secondary public school and tutored multiple students (and one coworker) from varying linguistic backgrounds after school in both English and German. For my M.A.T. practicum, I taught five classes of 10th grade English and Language Arts at both honors and academic levels. When I returned to Pittsburgh after teaching in Massachusetts, I volunteered with Literacy Pittsburgh. I tutored adults from different linguistic backgrounds in English Language acquisition. Now I work as a tutor at a public Montessori school, where I assist students ages 6 through 11 with their math and ELA assignments and help them through daily social and emotional challenges.
Through my many teaching and tutoring experiences, I’ve found that I enjoy working with all ages. I am able to scaffold my lesson plans to meet the needs of my students, taking into account their learning goals, interests, different learning styles, and any barriers to accessing the material. I consider myself a lifelong learner, so I’m always eager to develop new ways of understanding alongside my students.
Please contact me with any questions. I look forward to hearing from you!
